Suggest books you have enjoyed.

I suggest:
-The Hunger Games series
-Enders game
-The Dark Tower series
-One Second After
-The Road
-Maybe Harry Potter if you are up for it.
-The books by Michio Kaku (that cool theoretical physicist you always see on tv)
-The steve jobs biography
-The golden compass series was okay. The movie was horrible.

Love The Road. I was very disappointed by the movie though.

I just finished Drew Magary's The Postmoral (from Deadspin, Kissing Suzy Kolber, etc) which is like The Road for dummies. Still enjoyable, but not as deep/realistic.

Biggest disappointment regarding the film version of "The Road" was the lack of the ship scene. That's what I was looking forward to the most.

Please take everything I say with a grain of salt. Better yet, just forget everything you know.

They made up for that with Omar being in the movie.

Praise be to Marcus.

Girl With the Dragon Tattoo is actually a good book. Yay rape and incest!

The Girl with the Dragon tattoo was awesome, and The Girl who played with Fire is just as good if not better.

All of the Ian Flemming Bond books (so different from movies in a good way)

The Road is probably my favorite book ever. The movie was only decent though

I've read every John Grisham book that he's released so far and like all of them. I would highly suggest "A Time To Kill" or "The Client".
I also have read all of Dan Brown's books, he has more than "The Da Vinci Code" and "Angels and Demons", and they are pretty good too. Like the two I mentioned, they kinda make you think and can totally catch you off-guard.

The LA quartet(The Black Dahlia, The Big Nowhere, LA Confidential and White Jazz) - James Elroy are all worth a read. They're not really much like the films. Very dark, but really good stories.
Generation Kill - Evan Wright. Kickass TV series, even better book. Written by a rolling stone journalist who embedded himself with the US marines as they invaded Iraq.
One Bullet Away - Nathaniel Fick. Written by the platoon commander from generation kill.
Also any Ryanverse novel by Tom Clancy (+ red storm rising).

For any dog lovers out there (or any human with a soul really), A Dog's Purpose is an excellent book. Be prepared for tears and a good read.

Just wrapping up "The Amazing Adventure of Kavalier and Clay" by Michael Chabon. Highly recommended. Tells the fictional story of two cousins who create a comic during the "golden age" of comics in the late '30s and early '40s, but its so much more. It won the Pulitzer Prize for Gods sake.

The Song of Ice and Fire series (AKA Game of Thrones)... I don't like reading fantasy but the series is AMAZING!
